Tracks
  1. 1Smiling in the SimulateSky Cooper vox, production, guitar · Joe Trump percussion3:04
    Lyrics
    Selling all the cinnamon
    Spicy as a sentiment
    A story and its settlement
    Sold to us singing along

    Multiply the evidence
    Fire all your presidents
    Salty in human race marathon

    Simple with the common sense
    Sure of glory’s evidence
    Sick of the heaven beyond

    Cool it with the holidays
    Smiling in the simulate
Could be rough to pull out the thorn

    Who are you?

The opener: Sky's vocals, production and guitar, Joe Trump on percussion.

  2. 2On My Best DaySky Cooper vox, production, guitar, bass · James Ford drums · Joe Trump percussion3:35
    Lyrics
    Cruising, moving, through my reflection
    Settling down

    Soothing, suiting, correct my direction
    No running home now

On my best day roads end but soon enough to start a new route
On my best day sober reflection extinguishes doubt
    On my best day out

On my best day friends come, not fade away and burn out
On my best day older is young enough to still shout
    On my best day out

    Holding, molding, compose my correction
    Not fighting the flow

    Living, giving, reduce the selection
    Just playing the show

On my best day roads end, but soon enough to start a new route
On my best day sober reflection extinguishes doubt
    On my best day out

On my best day friends come, not fade away and burn out
    On my best day out
On my best day older is young enough to still shout
    On my best day out

Sky on bass as well as guitar, James Ford on drums.

  3. 3Pay Your RentSky Cooper vox, production, guitar · James Ford drums · Damian Erskine bass · Joe Trump percussion3:16
    Lyrics
    Live easy my friend
If things don’t get bright ahead
Would you hold back and put your faith in check instead
    Don’t have to ruin this
    Don’t have to wreck
    That easy money is illusion
    Easy moving into debt

    Don’t you bet on death
Wouldn’t be the first or the last to lose your breath

    Some things don’t break even
    Some things won’t get spent
Would of put a lot of work but realize
Some things won’t pay your rent

    Breath easy my friend
When things get way off course
    Wishing for a different youth
Bet your money on a different horse
    Don’t have to cripple this
    But don’t have to mend
That easy money is simple fickle
Cause what comes easy is easy spent

    Don’t you bet on death
Wouldn’t be the first or the last to lose your breath

    Some things don’t break even
    Some things won’t get spent
Would of put a lot of work but realize
Some things won’t pay your rent

Damian Erskine's bass under James Ford's drums.

  4. 4River's SongSky Cooper vox, production, guitar, bass · James Ford drums · Joe Trump percussion3:33
    Lyrics
My feet crying to walk around
Your beat’s crooked in its sound
My life is stuck in lost and found

Some trees so big they have to fall
Your sides too high to climb the wall

If you swim the river shouts your rights
I’m cold but the fire burns the night
These stars are losing all their light

My eyes are giving up their sight
    Giving up their sight

We trust this dusty training ground
We’re given only what we’ve found
    Find the light
    find the light

Our seats are bouncing off the ground
    Some folks perfect the runaround
Some toes toes ain’t stepping on the ground

Some foes are better friends than hounds
    Are better finds than found

I’m close to singing all the time
    Raining through the clouds
    Through the clouds

I try to lift a lighter weight
Some tears are wetter in their wake
Some fears conduct a harsher fate

It’s not clear if my work will wait
In case my will will break

Some suns set the whole day long
Some birds forget their birthday song
    Forgot their song

Your friends protect your inner eye
    Your sins predict your alibis
If I train it rarely runs on time

My frame of reference wanders blind
    Acting so surprised

This world rewards the weapon wise
Most war a warning to the wise
    Fight the lies
    Fight the lies

Sky on guitar and bass, James Ford on drums, Joe Trump on percussion.

  6. 6It's Not All BadSky Cooper vox, production, guitar · Aaron Germain upright bass · James Ford drums · Joe Trump percussion2:06
    Lyrics
    It’s not all bad
    It’s not all bad
Plastic apocalypse tried to get you down
But the sun still shining putting heat on your frown
A lazy way to kill the hate inside instead of singing out loud

    It’s not all bad
    It’s not all bad
    Lean into the windy days
Quench your fast and thirsty gaze
We seek for meaning in the maze
    Silver in a cloudy haze
Our heros in our winding ways
Our troubles hurt but sing the praise

    It’s not all bad
    Ain’t you glad?

    It’s not all bad
    It’s not all bad
Close your eyes against the fight
Your heart can sing you through the night
Your future tends to turn your sight
It’s brighter than the wounded pride
We heal from falls and find the light
    Find the light
    Find the light

    Aaron Germain on upright bass.

  7. 7Low Battery BachSky Cooper production1:37

  8. 8Isolation BluesSky Cooper vox, production, guitar, string arrangement2:38
    Lyrics
    I remember your letter
It’s not like I couldn’t let her go
    She’s still leaving me slow

Thats what they say about fall
    You can feel so small
She shed no tears when she called
    I couldn’t recall
    How things got this way

We both run our own path
    My emotions ain’t math
And it doesn’t add up anyway

I suppose this wheel has to turn
    And I’m trying to learn
    What it means to return
    Back to our home
    with you away

    My heart’s heavy metal
    Since when was it settled?
    No hope without fear
    I’m missing you here
    Can I keep you near?
    Why won’t you stay?

Vocals, guitar and a string arrangement, all Sky.

  9. 9Manic Depressionwritten by Jimi Hendrix · Sky Cooper vox, production, guitar, bass · James Ford drums · Joe Trump percussion3:05

The Hendrix song, with James Ford on drums and Joe Trump on percussion.

About this record

Woord is dutch for word, and Lieder is the poem song form from the 1800's, and earlier, from the German work for song, Lied. It is a 'tongue in cheek' attempt to create a name for a modern style, using old European phrases. This album mixes rock, rap and EDM elements with field recording, and journalistic samples. Dedicated to my father who always inspired the search for knowledge.
